Manchester football stars’ father Neville Neville appears at Bolton Crown Court charged with sexual assault

By Danielle Wainwright

Neville Neville, father of former Manchester United football stars Gary and Phil Neville, appeared in court today charged with a sexual assault incident in Greater Manchester.

The 63-year-old is set to stand trial on December 16 over a charge of sexually penetrating a woman with his finger when she did not consent.

Neville appeared at Bolton Crown Court and spoke only to confirm his name as legal arrangements were discussed for the forthcoming trial.

The 46-year-old victim was allegedly assaulted on March 23 in the Greenmount area of Bury, with the former Bury FC chairman denying the allegation.

The prosecution was told that he will plead not guilty and his solicitor Simon McKay has previously said the defendant denies the incident ever happened.

Neville left court without comment.
