CCTV: Three men sought after Manchester city centre attack leaves man ‘critical’

Police have released CCTV images of three men they wish to speak to after a man was seriously assaulted in Manchester city centre in the early hours of Sunday.

Shortly before 2:40am, officers were called to Great Marlborough Street, Manchester to reports that a man had been seriously assaulted.

They found a 24-year-old man with serious head injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition having undergone emergency surgery.

The assault is believed to have taken place sometime between 2:20am and 2:30am opposite the junction of Great Marlborough Street and New Wakefield Street, close to The Ritz nightclub.

It is believed that a number of men assaulted the victim and made their way down New Wakefield Street towards Oxford Road.

So far it has been established that the victim had been to The Ritz nightclub with friends and the assault took place after the victim left the club alone to make his way home.

After conducting extensive CCTV checks, police have now issued the images of three men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant David Henshall said: “We have conducted extensive CCTV searches of the area and have found images of three men who we believe may be able to assist us with this investigation.

“If you recognise yourself as one of the men in these images or you believe that you know them, I would urge you to please contact police.”
