Hunt continues for Levenshulme gang who attacked bus couple with traffic cone – leaving man needing 20 stitches

Police are still hunting the gang of youths who viciously abused a couple in Levenshulme, leaving one man needing 20 stitches after being bashed over the head with a traffic cone.

The incident took place on May 6 at 8:50pm on Stockport Road, Levenshulme, opposite Asda.

The attack occurred following a verbal altercation between a couple in their 40s and a group of youths believed to be in their early 20s.

Beginning on the bus, the verbal altercation continued as they all got off, escalating further until a traffic cone was thrown at the couple. The 48-year-old man required 20 stitches.

Detective Constable Martin Riley said: “We have issued some CCTV footage, which clearly shows the two men and women on the bus shortly before the attack took place.

“The man suspected of instigating the assault is wearing a dark coloured hoody, but we are appealing for anyone that recognises any of the four individuals to contact us and help us with our enquiries.”
