Urmston shooting: GMP name 29-year-old murder victim

A 29-year-old man who was shot dead in Urmston yesterday has now been named by Police.

Shortly before 7.30am on Wednesday May 20, police were called to Manor Park after a man was found lying in the road next to a car. 

Emergency services attended and found the body of Andre Marshall with gunshot wounds to his torso and leg.  

A post-mortem examination established that Andre died from gunshot wounds and his next-of-kin have now been informed. 

Chief Superintendent Mary Doyle said: “Our thoughts are with the family of Andre at this distressing time and we have specially trained officers supporting them. 

“We are still in the early stages of the investigation, but we now know that Andre died from gunshot wounds. 

“We do not believe this was a random attack and we are still working to establish a motive which, as of yet, is not known. 

“We don’t believe there is a threat to the wider community; however we have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance. 

“We are still appealing for witnesses and information, so if you have any information at all, no matter how small, I would urge you to please come forward and speak to us as soon as possible.”
