Arrest made after assault at Courteeners gig leaves man needing metal plates in face

A man has been arrested following an assault which left a reveller at this month’s gig by The Courteeners needing metal plates in his face.

The victim, 27, was attacked while attending The Courteeners gig at Heaton Park on Friday 5 June leaving him with a fractured cheekbone in two places.

The man was admitted to hospital and needed an operation to have two plates inserted into his face to stabilise his cheekbone.

A 27-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been bailed until a date in July.

The incident happened just days after police launched a fresh appeal to find the killer of Robert Hart, who died in hospital five days after he was assaulted at the Parklife festival at Heaton Park on June 11 last year.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
