Rachel said: “Honestly it hasn’t sunk in. I still can’t put into words what this means to me.”

Downey got into dog grooming after working in a doggy day care centre and then decided to make the plunge and create her own business after wanting to do it for years.

She has a plethora of outstanding reviews from many clients who have stayed with her since she opened.

Julie Fitton ,a long standing client said: “Rachel is an amazing groomer. I’ve been taking Sydney for years and would not take her anywhere else.”

‘Oh My Dog’ will travel up and down the UK for more competitions with her white poodle Denver in the poodle class.

Her first competition will take place in the new year and will be the first time she has competed overseas in Ireland.

Rachel hopes to expand her business in the future and wants to teach seminars to inspire others to take up grooming.
