Hunt for brazen gunman who ‘sprayed Wigan house with bullets’ and fired shots at two bystanders

Police are hunting a gunman who blasted the front of a house in Wigan and then fired at two bystanders last night.

Greater Manchester Police were called to Viscount Road, Marsh Green, at around 12.55am this morning following reports from concerned neighbours.

On arrival officers found a number of shots had been fired through the front window of a house and that further shots were then fired in the direction of a man and woman, but neither were harmed.

Police have since confirmed nobody was inside the house at the time of the shooting.

Detective Inspector Matthew Moore, based at Wigan, said: “It is unbelievable that someone thinks they can spray the front of house with bullets and get away with it.

“These offenders calmly drove up the road, got out of the car and one of them fired a number of shots at the house.

“They then turned the gun in the direction of two people in the street. It’s not known for sure if they were being targeted, but the weapon was fired in their direction.”

It is believed the offenders arrived in a dark Volvo saloon car before driving away after the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 7124 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
