Record breaking runners take to the streets for Manchester Marathon 2025

Thousands of runners took part in the Manchester Marathon 2025 on Sunday 27 April.

The 26.2 mile race started at Old Trafford football stadium and passed through Stretford, Sale, Altrincham, Baguley, Sale Moor, Chorlton, Whalley and Hulme before finishing by the University of Manchester on Oxford Road.

Approximately 36,000 people participated. The earliest runners set off at 9am, followed by later groups at 10-minute intervals until 11:30am.

The overall champion was Josh Griffiths, who crossed the finish line within 2:16:43, at a 3:13km pace.

Seasoned runner Keiron Torkington, from Bolton, set off at 10:30am and finished within five hours and 30 minutes, despite a pulled hamstring.
