A UK cosmetic surgery provider has launched a non-profit to deliver international medical care and humanitarian support
Transform Healthcare – which has hospitals in Manchester and Birmingham – announced the creation of the Electiva Foundation at a launch event held at Vermilion restaurant in Manchester yesterday this week.
Healthcare supplies have already been delivered into Gaza and the foundation has been working in partnership with the ABAM Foundation to provide support to communities affected by flooding in Bangladesh.
Tony Veverka, co-leader of the foundation, said: “It’s not just about running a commercial business — it’s about giving back and helping others.
“In healthcare, we’re constantly reminded of the stark contrast between those with easy access to quality care and those in difficult situations who can’t access any healthcare at all.”
Veverka the CEO of Tranform’s parent-company Y1 Capital, will lead the foundation alongside Dr. Sayani Sainudeen, a founding partner of Y1 Capital and CEO of Transform.
Plastic surgeon Dr Mubashir Cheema, who has been coordinating the foundation’s efforts in Gaza, said they had already organised the the shipment of over 400 cartons of medicine and the collection of more than 30 shipping pallets of medical and surgical supplies to Gaza.
