‘A cracked record’: Angry Bury boss Kevin Blackwell admits frustration at same missed chances every week

By Kim Richards

Bury manager Kevin Blackwell failed to hide his anger as his side are left seven points adrift of League One safety.

The Shakers failed to convert early chances from Nicky Ajose leaving Leyton Orient to take advantage of the poor finishing.

And Blackwell struggled to find reasoning for the team’s third league game without a win.

“We had two chances you would dream for, it’s like a cracked record for me I’m afraid, every time we get how have lost the game?” he said.

“Every week we get ‘listen lads you’re a decent team’ but you cant win games when you miss chances like that.

“All season we’ve had chances after chances and we’re missing crystal clear chances, the type that most strikers dream about.

“The chances were so clear for everyone, what can I say because it’s the same questions every week.”

Blackwell admitted his frustration but added if the Shakers continue to play as they are they have a hope of League One football next season.

“We played terrific today but I think the only person that came away happy was Michael the grounds man because he’s found a pitch worse than his,” he said.

“We’re talking about our incredible strikers, but this has been our problem all season and if we could finish we’d be in the top ten.

“They’ve given us everything though and I can’t fault that, they’ve come to a side that’s doing well.

“You wouldn’t have known who was top and who was bottom in the game that’s for sure.

“If we continue to play like we’ve been playing I have every confidence that we can [stay up] but what we have to do is finish the chances we create, it’s as simple as that.”
