Chicago Bears unveil first flag football league for girls in Greater Manchester

Representatives from the Chicago Bears introduced the North of England to its first ever girls flag football league at Bolton School.

The NFL’s first British female coach, Phoebe Schecter, and former Super Bowl winner, Shaun Gayle, were among those who attended the event.

Together, they commenced the league which will see 10 schools across the county competing in a round robin style league, before a final championship match between the top two sides.

Having been included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, the Bears are hoping this initiative will prove the catalyst for the women’s game in the Northwest.

Indeed, the winners of the competition will be invited to the Bears NFL London game at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium later this year.
