Not friends? Didier Drogba’s my career adviser – and I miss him, claims Manchester City’s Yaya Toure

By Colin Henrys

Manchester City’s powerhouse midfielder Yaya Toure has slammed rumours he and Ivorian compatriot Didier Drogba have fallen out.

Toure is currently preparing for Ivory Coast’s World Cup Qualifiers against The Gambia and Tanzania, but ex-Chelsea man Drogba is not involved.

However, after Drogba visited his team mates’ training session in Abidjan, Toure revealed he is missing the Elephants captain’s presence.

“People are saying what they don’t know,” Toure told SuperSport.

“I don’t feel so happy because Drogba is absent from the fold.

“Drogba is a weapon of mass destruction to any team and defence. We still need his services in the outfit.”

Toure pipped his international team mate to the African Footballer of the Year award in 2012 – the commanding midfielder’s second consecutive honour.

However, he insisted to reporters he and Galatasaray striker Drogba are still good friends.

And the ex-Barcelona star, who recently signed a new four-year City deal, revealed Drogba was instrumental in his move to England.

He added: “Do you know Drogba has been my career adviser? He has contributed to making the choice for all the clubs I have played for.”
