Football postponed following The Queen’s death – but will other sports follow?

All Premier League and EFL matches this weekend have been postponed – but both codes of rugby will play.

The respective governing bodies made the decision after talks this morning following The Queen’s death yesterday.

The EFL had already postponed two Friday night fixtures yesterday evening.

Golf’s PGA Championship at Wentworth has been suspended and play at today’s England-South Africa cricket Test is off.

Newcastle’s Great Northern 5k, UK Athletics’ 5k Road Championships and cycling’s Tour of Britain final three stages are postponed as well.

However, decision has been made this afternoon that tomorrow’s rugby league Super League play-off between Huddersfield Giants and Salford Red Devils will take place. Today’s third quarter-final between Catalan Dragons and Leeds Rhinos will go ahead in France, but second-tier matches in England are off.

This weekend’s rugby union fixtures will also go ahead.
