Yes We Will: Man City promise return to glory days ahead of West Brom opener

Barack Obama chimed ‘Yes We Can’ in 2008 to secure the US presidency and now Manchester City duo Manuel Pellegrini and Vincent Kompany are promising the club’s return to Premier League greatness in 2016.

Captain Kompany received a passionate reception on Wednesday night at City Live as he took to the stage to thank fans for their support.

Ahead of Monday’s top flight opener against West Bromwich Albion, the Belgian and his Chilean manager had an encouraging message for supporters concerned about last season’s trophyless campaign.

“The Club has to grow, the future has to be bright,” said Kompany.

“With this team, we will keep improving and with this Club we will keep growing. We will be on top.”

Pellegrini added: “We will do everything we can to bring the title back.

“We need to work altogether, players and fans in the stadium. We need to play like we know we can play.”

City are inviting fans to get up close and personal with their heroes next Wednesday before their first home game of the season against Chelsea on August 16 at the newly expanded Etihad Stadium.

Both the men’s and women’s first teams will take to the main pitch for an open training session in support of City in the Community’s Disability Programme.

There will be a range of activities on offer for all the family and the chance for fans to win money-can’t-buy prizes and experiences.

Tickets are now on sale for the opening training session at mcfc.co.uk.
