Man City machine ready to score more goals at Leicester, says goalkeeper Hart

Joe Hart expects the goals to fly in when Manchester City travel to Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend despite Sergio Aguero’s absence.

City are currently on fire with six consecutive wins and celebrated qualification into the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday.

The injured Aguero picked up the league’s Player of the Month award for November though Edin Dzeko will likely replace him against Leicester on Saturday as he did against Roma.

Hart told City online: “We have some fantastic players who are more than ready to step in. There’s going to be goals.

“We feel confident in what we do. There are a lot of us and people peak at different times, but I think everyone is in a good moment.

“The manager knows his players and we know how he wants us to play. We’re finding a nice balance.”

The England goalkeeper is not taking Leicester for granted however despite the fact they sit bottom of the league.

The two sides faced off last year in the League Cup quarter-final at the King Power Stadium and it was Dzeko who grabbed a brace that time to clinch it 3-1.

The Foxes are currently winless in 10 league games and their solitary goal in the defeat to Aston Villa last weekend was their first in 11 hours and 24 minutes.

“They have struggled a bit recently with results but they have just fallen the wrong side of the odd goal,” he added.

“They have been competitive in everything they’ve done and they fully deserve to be in this league and the King Power Stadium is a hard place to go.”

Manager Manuel Pellegrini welcomes back captain Vincent Kompany to the side while David Silva may feature after he got 30 minutes towards the end in Rome.

The Chilean also addressed reports regarding Hart and the 27-year-old’s potential new contract which would see him at City until 2019.

He stated Hart was by no means a guaranteed starter and that he must keep working hard to maintain his place.

“You never know who is number one. I think Joe is the best goalkeeper in England and he is performing very well in this moment,” Pellegrini said.

“In a squad you always need two very good goalkeepers. The best way to have a good performance is to have good competition behind you.”
