Bury manager Kevin Blackwell hopes the club is spared from their troubles, despite relegation from League One after losing to Oldham Athletic.
The Shakers, who urgently need a £1million cash boost, are returning to League Two after substitute Matt Smith scored the crucial winner for Latics.
Blackwell admitted relegation looked likely following the financial situation surrounding the club – including two transfer embargoes – but hopes the club continues to survive.
“It started pouring down with rain as though it was crying for Bury Football Club,” Blackwell told the club website.
“We lacked quality in certain areas and it is the responsibility of the board members and myself to bring the players in.
“That has not been afforded to us for four or five months. Unfortunately, you reap what you sow and we are where we are.
“What we have got to do now is save Bury Football Club and hope it has a future from here.”
However, Blackwell said Bury require a quick injection of cash to stop the steel shutters slamming onto the club’s existence.
“Until we get any confirmation of investment, it is about getting through to the end of the season,” he added.
“As we stand, they said we have two weeks to survive. Until someone comes in, there is no future beyond April.
“There is only one survival plan – we need your bloody money. Remember Bob Geldof? Well, that is what we need now.
“I think the whole club needs a radical change from top to bottom. Maybe that is what will happen if new people are brought in.”
