There was one thing that pleased Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal about his side’s FA Cup win over Preston on Monday.
Trouble is, that one thing is also a source of bother for the Dutchman.
Just where do you play Marouane Fellaini?
The Belgian clearly caught the eye of Van Gaal in the summer despite many fans wanting rid, though they have had to eat their words of late.
And Fellaini was at it again in the win over their League One opponents, providing a dream target for any winger as Antonio Valencia’s cross found the tall midfielder-come-striker, who put the visitors in front with his right boot.
“We can always overcome the pressure with Fellaini up front and he scores goals also,” said Van Gaal.
“I played him for the first time in the position he wants but I have not always got a position for him and that’s my problem.
“I think we scored fantastic goals also but were a little bit lucky as well, especially the second goal when Valencia crossed to the far post for Fellaini.
“I liked it very much because we trained on that a lot. I was very happy for Valencia.”
