Radcliffe FC Pitch

New £2.4m all-weather 3G football pitch in Radcliffe

A 3G all-weather pitch is being installed at Redbank Playing Fields in Radcliffe as part of a £2.4million project.

The new pitch – which will open next year – is being funded with £1.8m from the Football Foundation, which channels funding from the FA and the Premier League, as well as £600,000 from Bury Council.

Investing in the £2.4m facility includes grass pitch improvements, floodlights, as well as a changing pavilion with a club room.

Councillor Alan Quinn, cabinet member for the environment, climate change and operations, said: “This tremendous new facility will play an important role in the wider regeneration of Radcliffe, bringing opportunities for local people to participate in football and improve their health, physical activity and wellbeing.”

The funding boost comes after two years of planning with delighted Radcliffe FC chairman Paul Hilton saying the scheme will be “an incredible asset”.

He said: “Radcliffe FC and Radcliffe Juniors strive to be a positive force of pride in the Radcliffe community through our on-field success, youth participation levels and importantly, through our community work and this project is another endorsement of those values in action.”

Lee Chapman, from Radcliffe Juniors, added: “This project will promote enjoyment of physical activity as a basis for life-long participation in partnership with Radcliffe Football Foundation.”

The council’s decision to approve the planning will be operated by Radcliffe Football Foundation, which includes a partnership with Radcliffe FC.

Radcliffe FC currently play in the NPL Premier Division.
