England 6-2 Iran: Twitter reacts as England cruise to victory in World Cup opener

England fans were delighted with their side’s 6-2 win against Iran in their World Cup opener and took to Twitter to give their thoughts on the game.

Gareth Southgate’s side secured their second biggest win in a major tournament and their largest winning margin in an opening match.

There were many positives to the Three Lions’ performance but fans have warned the nation not to get ahead of themselves as they made light work of the 20th Fifa-ranked side.

Bukayo Saka scored twice as England put six past Iran. Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish also featured in the flurry of goals at the Khalifa International Stadium.

Some were reluctant to give England praise for their win in the eight-goal thriller.

Overall, supporters remain optimistic as England look to capitalise in upcoming group stage fixtures. They come up against Wales on Friday and take on the USA in the following week.
