England fans’ ecstasy as Bukayo Saka scores twice on his World Cup debut

England fans expressed their elation on social media as Bukayo Saka scored twice for the Three Lions in their 6-2 victory against Iran.

Gareth Southgate raised eyebrows earlier today when the 21-year-old was included in his starting line-up ahead of Phil Foden for their World Cup opener.

But Saka provided returns from his selection in the 43rd minute with a stunning strike on the bounce just inside the Iranian 18-yard-box.

And the winger bagged his brace inside the 62nd minute.

It comes 16 months on from the Arsenal youth product’s heartbreaking penalty miss in the Euro21 final against Italy.

Twitter came alive in support of Saka who is one of England’s brightest young talents.

With more goals than Wayne Rooney in the World Cup, Saka has made the perfect start to his tournament. The youngster’s statistics over the 70 minutes that he played told the full story:

Additional goals from Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish helped England cruise to a comfortable 6-2 win over Iran at the the Khalifa International Stadium.

They move to the top of Group B as Wales and the USA face off this evening.
