As a member of the Old Trafford outfit Van Nistelrooy scored in 10 consecutive matches which is still a feat yet to be replicated in the top division.

In his prime the Dutchman was one of the finest players in the Premier League, netting 95 times in 150 games in the English top flight.

The announcement came after Van Nistelrooy completed a public weight loss transformation in order to entice FIFA players to sign him.

After hanging up his boots the Dutch striker struggled to maintain his athletic physique and piled on the pound in a similar fashion to Brazilian legend Ronaldo and Diego Maradona.

However in his return to the beautiful game the Dutch legend underwent a gruelling training regime in order to get himself fit and available for players across the globe.

The former Dutch international and fourth highest goal scorer in UEFA Champions League history tweeted: “As soon as I put the boots on again, feels like I never left. Glad to be back training again.”
