Pablo Zabaleta has praised Manchester City’s strikers after they smashed six against Tottenham on Sunday.

City have now scored 20 goals in their last four games at the Eithad and will be hoping to carry their superb home from into Wednesday night’s Champions League encounter against Czech side Viktoria Plzen.

With Sergio Aguero scoring twice and Alvaro Negredo also getting on the score sheet, the Argentine full back is happy that the forwards are banging in the goals.

“We have amazing strikers who can score goals from anywhere but we have to keep calm because it is very early days,” he told City’s website.

“People ask how we can score so many at home and then fail to score against teams we are expected to beat-but you’ll have to ask the strikers about that!

“We did not expect to win 6-0 against a very strong team like Spurs but sometimes that’s how it goes. We are playing very well but its home too.”

Stand-in captain Yaya Toure echoed Zabaleta’s sentiment and said he was delighted by the victory against what he sees as one of the top sides in the top flight.

“This was a very important win for us against one of the best teams in the Premier League,” he said.

“It was a great team display and I think we played a fantastic. We have some fantastic players at the football club and the two guys up front are unbelievable.”
