UEFA Women’s Euro 2022: England draw debutants Northern Ireland in Group A

England Women have been drawn against Austria, Norway and Northern Ireland in Group A of next summer’s European Championships.

They will play Austria at Old Trafford on July 6th in the curtain-raiser, followed by Norway on July 11th at the Brighton Community Stadium.

They will round off their group stage against Northern Ireland on July 15th at St Mary’s Stadium, home to Southampton FC.

The final will take place on July 31st at Wembley Stadium.

Northern Ireland qualified for the tournament for the first time via the play-offs and will open their campaign against Norway on July 7th in Southampton.

Manchester City and England right-back Lucy Bronze – speaking to the BBC – said: “The pressure is there being the home nation.

“We’ve got that twelfth man that no other nation will have.”

Leigh Sports Village will host three Group C games, in which holders The Netherlands and Sweden – ranked second in the world rankings – were placed.

The stadium will also host one quarter final featuring the winner of Group C against the Group D runner-up.

Manchester City Academy Stadium will host three Group D games, which includes the likes of France, Italy and Belgium.

Eight-time champions Germany have landed Denmark, Spain and Finland in Group B.

Bramall Lane – home to Sheffield United – will host three Group C games and a semi-final, including the mouthwatering clash between the Dutch and the Swedish on July 9th.

Brentford Community Stadium, Rotherham’s New York Stadium and Stadium MK in Milton Keynes will also be used during the tournament.
