Manchester hosts Stand Up To Racism protest

Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) hosted a peaceful protest in St Peter’s Square on Friday 4 July,

Their intent was to oppose another demonstration set to take place the same day of people who support the Far Right movement.

The demonstration was hosted by members of the organisation as well as Socialist Workers Party supporters.

The information they received was that the opposing protestors were planning to storm Manchester City Centre at some point during the day to spread leaflets, information and awareness about their cause and core beliefs, something the SUTR supporters found deplorable.

Amy, a STUR party spokesperson, described the protest group as hosting an “anti-racist” demonstration against what their “oppressors” were doing, and that the demonstration also provided them with an opportunity to campaign for their own beliefs, that of valuing diversity, inclusivity and support of the UK welcoming refugees.
