Happy birthday City! Event planned to celebrate 125 years of Blues history

Manchester City will be 125 years old in April and football historian Gary James is marking the occasion with an event to look back on the club’s illustrious history.

MCFC 125: Celebrating the Birth & First Successes of Manchester City will be held at The Dancehouse Theatre, Oxford Road on Thursday April 11 at 7.30pm.

The first half of the night will cover City’s establishment and early successes, spotlighting the personalities who built the club and the importance of the 1904 FA Cup parade.

In the second, the focus will shift to the impact of supporters in creating the club’s DNA, exploring attendances, famous songs and, of course, the inflatable banana craze.

Gary explains: “This talk should answer many questions on how and why the club became such an important and popular part of Mancunian life.

“It will also celebrate the role of supporters – the lifeblood of the club.”

The event comes as City chase an unprecedented quadruple of League Cup, FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League wins.

Tickets can be bought via the Dancehouse website here, and members of the official supporters club can use the code OSC125 (OSC125CON for concessions) to receive an exclusive discount.
