Injured Edin Dzeko lashes out at Bosnia boss for forcing him to play full international game

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has taken to Facebook to vent anger at his national coach for making him play while injured in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s game last night.

Dzeko played 90 minutes of a 2-0 defeat against Egypt despite having a ‘niggling’ injury and accused coach Safet Susic of forcing him to play.

Taking to his official Facebook account, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international said: “I came here with a niggling injury and Susic knew that, and he still didn’t substitute me either at half-time, which was the plan, or after the break when I asked to be replaced.

“I don’t know why he left me on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.”

He also criticised fans for booing as he struggled with his performance on the night.

“I wish to thank all fans who support me but the others [who jeered] should be ashamed because I am a born winner and always played my heart out for the national team,” he said.

Incidents like this will raise alarm-bells for Manchester City fans as the season draws to a close and the importance of keeping player’s fit is a priority.

Key-players Stevan Jovetic and Matija Nastasic are currently unavailable for City with Sergio Aguero only just returning back from injury.
