Man, 24, charged with murder, robbery and burglary after 87-year-old Bolton man dies following midnight attack

A man has been charged after an elderly man was attacked in his home in Bolton last month.

Daniel Crompton, 24, of no fixed address, has been charged with murder, robbery and burglary and is due before Bolton magistrates’ court today.

Frank Worsley, 87, was attacked when he was woken up by an intruder who broke into his home on Longfield Road, Bolton, at about 12.40am on August 3. 

He was admitted to hospital after suffering a stroke and a bleed to his brain, but sadly died on August 20. 

On August 3 a burglary was committed at an address on St Helens Road, Bolton.
