Altrincham schoolgirl donates entire head of hair for charity after watching friend lose her locks through chemotherapy

An Altrincham schoolgirl was inspired to donate a full head of hair to a cancer charity after watching her friend battle the deadly disease.

Morgan Sheridan, from Timperley, sacrificed 46cm of her hair for her 16th birthday after enjoying a final swansong at her school prom.

The Loreto Grammar School pupil originally hoped to raise £100 for Médecins Sans Frontières (UK), who provide healthcare around the globe.

But the target was smashed, with the current figure standing at £1,773.29.

“It was a big thing to do but the support and generosity of others, both those I know and those who donated anonymously, has been overwhelming and amazing,” she told MM.

SWEET SIXTEEN: Morgan made the brave gesture on her 16th birthday

“I’m dedicating this crazy act to my good, old friend Charlotte Axisa who is undergoing chemotherapy at the moment.

“The two of us can grow our hair back together.”

On July 4, Morgan’s hair was tied into a plait before being completely cut off at Red Angel Hair in Altrincham.

The hair was then sent off to another charity called Little Princesses, who provide wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

After that the remainder of Morgan’s hair was then shaved off in front of her family and friends.

Morgan said: “The experience has been humbling and the support I have received is unbelievable.”
