Manchester City top scorer Edin Dzeko fears Wembley snub despite West Brom winner

Top scorer Edin Dzeko admits he is still not certain of a place in the Manchester City starting line-up for Saturday’s FA Cup final with Wigan Athletic.

The Bosnian striker scored the only goal of the game as City beat West Bromwich Albion to secure Champions League qualification last night.

But with Sergio Aguero expected to return for Saturday’s Wembley showdown, Dzeko was just pleased to bag his 13th league goal of the season.

“I don’t know. It’s not my decision, it’s the decision of the manager,” he told Sky Sports.

“I’m happy that I played today again 90 minutes, scored the goal and we will see.

“I think it is important that we win the cup, that’s the only thing.”

Dzeko, who is rumoured to be leaving City in the summer – possibly as part of a bid for Napoli’s Edinson Cavani, also admitted Tuesday night’s win was hard work.

The Bosnian scored during a sustained period of City pressure in the first half which also saw them hit the woodwork twice.

But after the break the big striker rarely saw the ball as West Brom pushed hard for an equaliser.

“I think it was a very tough game,” Dzeko added.

“I can speak for myself and say I was very tired at the end of the game – I can’t remember the last time that I played 90 minutes.”
