Salford paedo jailed after memory card containing ‘vile’ child images found on bus

A Salford man who took photos of children playing outside his home has been jailed after a memory card he left on a bus was traced back to his home address.

Anthony Jolly, of Rosa Grove, Higher Broughton, was today sentenced to three years in prison and given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.at Manchester Crown Court.

The 51-year-old misplaced the storage device which contained indecent images of children and was found by another man travelling on a bus in Eccles, Greater Manchester in October last year.

Detective Constable Jill Vescovi said: “Anthony Jolly is a depraved predator who obviously doesn’t care and hasn’t given a second thought to the children in the images he kept and the impact this abuse will have had on their lives.”

“Whilst none of the children who appear in the indecent images were directly abused by Jolly, the downloading and sharing of vile images like this fuel the trade of child sexual abuse.”

When the man arrived home and viewed the contents, he discovered a number of indecent images of children and immediately contacted the police.

Amongst the images stored on the card, police found a number of photos of children playing outside which appeared to have been taken from a bedroom window.

Police were able to trace the pictures back to Jolly’s home address in Higher Broughton where he was arrested and a number of electronic devices were seized.

Forensic examination of the devices found thousands of indecent images of children.

DC Vescovi added: “Putting a stop to the abuse of children is an absolute top priority for us and we will continue to work tirelessly to make sure that anybody who is involved in the production, sale, downloading or sharing of images like this is brought to justice.”
