Rhiannon Dixon is ready for World Title bout

Rhiannon Dixon is preparing for the biggest night of her career as she faces off with Argentina’s Karen Elizabeth Carabajal for the vacant WBO lightweight title.

The Warrington born fighter’s rise to the top is unique and only four years ago she was a pharmacist on the front line of the Covid pandemic.

Having picked up the sport seven years ago as a way to keep fit she began training under the guidance of former World Champion Anthony Crolla.

Dixon said: “I feel working in a hospital has equipped me well for life as a professional athlete.

“By working on Covid wards it has taught me a mental resilience that I can bring into boxing.”

Dixon will fight on the undercard of a stacked card at the AO Arena and includes a huge clash between local hero Zelfa Barrett and Jordan Gill.

Millions will watch the clash worldwide with the fight streamed on DAZN which is expected to start at 9pm tonight.
