Manchester Festival of Nature makes a buzz in Heaton Park

Prestwich’s Heaton Park hosted the Manchester Festival of Nature on Sunday, with thousands turning up for the event.

Organised by the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, this was the fifth edition of the festival since its foundation in 2019.

Funded in part by Toyota, event organiser Alan Wright hopes to secure more funding for future iterations.

He said: ” I could start working on next year’s festival in July instead of March.”

The festival aims to give children a hands-on experience with nature, using games and toys to introduce them to the wonders of the natural world.

Activities included a ‘bio-blitz’ – a treasure hunt where children searched the nearby area for various species of plants and beetles – and a stall where people could make ‘seed bombs’ to spread on their gardens at home.

The festival also hosted a live band – Songsmith Solar – as well as refreshments in the nearby Stables CafĂ©.
