Seven arrested as police seize drugs and ammunition in Manchester raids tackling organised crime

By Marios Papaloizou

Drugs, ammunition and suspected stolen goods were recovered today in a series of raids that saw seven arrested by Greater Manchester Police.

Nine warrants were executed by police in Wythenshaw and Wilmslow as part of an investigation into a series of robberies and burglaries.

Four men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary and theft and two of them have also been arrested on conspiracy to supply class B drugs.

Detective Inspector Paul Parker said: “We believe that these offences are linked to organised criminality and we are committed to tackling organised crime groups.

“We launched Operation Pavel following a spate of robberies, burglaries and vehicle crime that went from Wythenshawe, Cheadle, and Hale to as far afield as Wilmslow in Chesire.”

“These are your communities. If you tell us what action needs taking, then through your local police officers and the local authority we will take it and together we will dismantle criminal networks.”

As well as the four men, a 25-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion to commit burglary and theft and a 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

“We know that the answers to tackling organised crime lie in the communities  where these people operate, so we are asking residents to take a stand with us and together we can bring about real change,” DI Parker said.
