FC United fan’s Sweden to Manchester cycle gets off to flying start… despite antics of uncharitable wasp

Swedish FC United fan Linus Lind had an unusual send off as he departed his native country on his 1,600-mile journey to Moston – he was stung by a rather uncharitable wasp.

Lind’s pilgrimage, in aid of the charity Doctors without Borders, has so far brought in well above the 31-year-old’s expectations.

Linus reached his target of 10,000 krona (£860) before he had even left Sweden and he was thanked for his heroic efforts in an unusual way.

“The last few days I’ve biked on the Swedish west coast, met a really friendly guy who gave me free ice cream and sandwiches,” Linus wrote on his blog.

“Tried couch surfing for the very first time, met a Japanese globe trotter, ditched my tent and some other stuff.

“It didn’t give me a very nice send-off though. Just when I was about to board the ferry a wasp stung my ear. Thank you universe!”

WASP THAT? An unwelcome surprise for Linus awaited on the boat.

The Moston club have since posted on their official website that they are looking forward to welcoming Linus when he arrives in Manchester on August 30.
