Thoughtless Manchester teenager ruins ‘second chance’ by burgling house – just days after escaping jail for robbery

By John McDougall

A thoughtless Manchester teenager given ‘another chance’ after walking free from jail for three robberies, burgled a house only three days later.

Diallo Allen, 18, of Ploughbank Drive, Chorlton, escaped jail when he was handed a 15-month sentence, suspended for two years, in January after pleading guilty to three robberies.

But just days later, he broke into a house and he is now behind bars after his sentence was invoked on Tuesday at Manchester Crown Court, with two extra months added on.

Detective Constable Rob Southern, of West Didsbury Police Station, said: “When he was sentenced for the robberies, much was made in the media about his change in personal circumstances.

“It was argued that the offending coincided with him moving to the Nell Lane estate area but that argument is insulting to the residents there.

“Allen and Allen alone took the decision to rob three people and after being given a second chance took a decision to break into a house just a couple of days later.”

He smashed a window during the burglary and left blood traces on it, which were confirmed to be his through forensic examination.

Allen will serve his sentence – with the two months running consecutively – in a young offenders institute.
