Completing the Spanish Three Peaks

A £3,000 view from the Spanish Three Peaks –  all in aid of Christie’s Hospital

A solicitor in Sale has raised over £3,000 for charity by completing the Spanish Three Peaks Challenge.

Chris Partington, Director at Sale law firm, Slater Heelis, completed the expedition in aid of Manchester’s Christie Hospital.

Inspired by the kindness and support his mother-in-law received by the team at The Christie, Chris decided to embark on the challenge to conquer the three highest peaks in Mainland Spain.

Located in the Sierra Nevada National Park, Los Tres Picos, the Spanish Three Peaks involves summiting three of Spain’s highest mountains.

The peaks include Alcazaba at 3,371m, Veleta at 3,394m and Spain’s highest mountain, Mulhacén at 3,482m.

Chris said: “I found the Spanish three peaks very challenging and rewarding in equal measure and while I pushed myself to my absolute limit, I am so glad that I was able to do it and complete it and thrilled that I surpassed my initial fundraising goal and have raised a huge £3,000!

“I am so grateful for the generosity of each and every person that has donated. Seeing first hand where their money goes, I can promise it will be incredibly well spent on a service that is simply vital to people in our community.

“Witnessing my mother-in-law go through her own incredibly hard challenge this year in such an inspiring way and seeing how the outstanding care from the Christie made it that little bit less scary for her, and all of us as her family, made me determined to do something big that would give me the best chance of raising a significant amount of money for the Christie!”

To complete the challenge it took Chris 82,000 steps, 16 protein bars, three bags of jelly babies – and a whole tube of Voltarol.

Chris hoped to raise £2,500 for the much-loved hospital initially and has surpassed this target with his fundraising efforts.
