Police charge 10 men and three teens in third wave of major Oldham drugs raid

A series of major Oldham drug raids have seen 13 people, including three teenagers, charged with supply or conspiring to supply heroin and crack cocaine by Greater Manchester Police.

Among those arrested were a 16-year-old boy and two 17-year-old boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

All three teens have been charged with the supply of Class A drugs heroin and crack cocaine.

The drug raids are a part of GMP initiative Operation Plumbline, which was launched to crackdown on drug dealing in Oldham.

Officers raided 14 addresses in Oldham yesterday morning, forming the third part of the continuing fight against the use and supply of illegal substances in the area.

Inspector Paul Walker, of Oldham division, said: “This third strike is taking us one step closer to ridding the streets of Oldham of drugs and we will carry on listening to our communities, who have told us they want drug-dealers taken off their streets.

“Operation Plumbline has taken a year of hard work and determination from dedicated officers and has seen 36 arrests so far.”

Police initially arrested 14 people in this third wave of raids, and the other arrests associated with Operation Plumbline were made in May and June of this year – 14 and eight arrests in each month respectively.

Abdul Malik, 21, of Collingwood Way, Amran Alom, 18, of Main Road, Azad Miah, 20, of Ashley Street, and Hussain Ali, 20, of Stirling Street were charged with the supply of heroin and crack cocaine.

Noor Ali, 19, of Maygate, Shabir Rahman, 19, of Davies Street, Emdadur Rahman, 18, of Glenby Way, Ashaad Noor, 20, of Wakefield Drive, and Shahidul Hoque, 19, of Garforth St, were charged with conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine.

Ruzon Miah, 19, of Osborne Street, was charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession with intent to supply heroin.

All 13 of those arrested yesterday have been remanded into custody to appear before Oldham Magistrates’ Court this morning.
