Woman fighting for life in hospital after suffering horrific burns in Stockport house blaze

A 48-year-old woman is fighting for her life after sustaining severe burns at a house fire in Bramhall.

The blaze occurred at Grange Road on Thursday July 11 and emergency services were called at around 10am.

The woman was taken to Wythenshawe hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

Detective Inspector Matt Hope, of Stockport East INPT, said: “The woman sustained life-threatening burns and remains seriously ill in hospital.”

A joint fire and police investigation is now underway to establish the cause of the fire.

DI Hope added: “The investigation is at an early stage and whilst we are keeping an open mind about the cause, we are not at this stage looking for anyone else in connection with this fire.”
