Murder investigation: Boy, 17, found dead in bed just hours after being ‘beaten up’ outside Gorton grocers

A 17-year-old boy was found dead in his Manchester bed just hours after being beaten up outside a grocers shop.

UPDATE: CCTV images removed due to arrest.

Jordan Brennan was discovered unresponsive by his mother around 9pm on Saturday October 11 at his home and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred on Friday October 10 around 7.30pm, when the Manchester College student and two friends were shopping at a store on Hyde Road, Gorton.

As Jordan was leaving he was assaulted outside the shop by a man who had also been in the shop at the same time as the teenager and his two friends.

Police are now treating the incident as a murder investigation but have not arrested anyone.

They have also released CCTV footage of a man and a woman they want to speak to in connection with Jordan’s death.

Det Insp Theresa Carter, of the Major Incident Team, said: “Jordan was very well known and liked and both his family and the wider community are deeply shocked and saddened by what happened.

“At this stage we know that Jordan was assaulted outside the grocer’s store, but we don’t know exactly what led up to the assault.

“I would also ask that the man involved contacts the police so that we can fully understand what happened inside and outside the shop. We would also like to speak to the woman who he was with.”

A post mortem examination revealed Jordan had died from a head injury.

In a statement Mrs Brennan said: “Our son Jordan Brennan was 17 years old and was a well liked young man.

“He was a loveable rogue and was always polite and keen to help anyone who needed his help, be that physical help or just to listen to a friend.

“He would cheer them up with his usual larking about or joking around. He was a pleasure to have as a son and his loss is devastating. He was greatly loved by all that knew him.”

Others have offered their support on Facebook pages setup in Jordan’s memory.

In a Facebook post Jordan’s cousin, Paris Brennan, said: “The fact someone murdered my cousin is horrible, they took someone’s son, brother, family member, loved one and best friend away.

“They didn’t just take my cousin away from me they took my best friend away from me at such a young age and he didn’t deserve it at all and no matter what Jordan, I’ll keep my head up and all of us together because at the end of the day Jordan you would all want us all to crack a smile for you.

“I love you beautiful brightest star up in the sky my beautiful sleep tight.”

One user posted: “R.I.P Jordan Brennan heaven gained another angel.”

Another commented: “I never knew you Jordan but I have read your story and what a remarkable young man you seemed to be.

“So brave and I don’t understand how anybody could do this to you. Good night, god bless sweetheart and all my love and prays are with your family at this devastating time.”
