A wish come true: Girl, 12, suffering from bone cancer gets guided dream tour of Coronation Street

By Marios Papaloizou

A 12-year-old girl with bone cancer has had a wish come true after she met her favourite Coronation Street stars on a visit to the Manchester set.

Hannah Cross also got to share the screen with some of British TV’s most recognizable faces when she was invited to be an extra in one of the scenes.

The day was organised by Make a Wish Foundation, a charity that Hannah’s dad Simon has been working with for years.

“I’ve been volunteering for this amazing charity for nearly five years and met so many brave children and their families in that time,” he said.

“To then find out my own child had cancer was extremely difficult for the whole family to deal with, however I knew that to have a wish would give us something to look forward to and enjoy with no thoughts of hospital or treatments.

“We now have amazing memories of the wish experience.”

The Make a Wish Foundation organized for Hannah and her family to be chauffeur driven in a limousine to the set of Coronation Street where they were greeted by Kate Ford and Cherylee Houston who play Tracy Barlow and Izzy Armstrong.

Hannah, who comes from Sleaford in Lincolnshire, was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, when she was 11.

She has gone through intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment and has monthly MRI scans to check whether any cancer has returned. Her long term prognosis is unknown.
