Arrest made after argument escalates into brawl when man punched to the floor at Oldham pub

By Steven Brown

A 40-year-old man suffered a nasty cut to the head and a black eye after being punched to the floor during an argument in Last Orders Pub on Market Place on August 9.

The man needed six stitches after an argument turned into a violent bust-up while workers enjoyed a drink on a busy Friday night.

Police have arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of assault who has been bailed until September 7 awaiting further inquiries.

Detective Constable Lucy Gregory based at Chadderton Police Station said: “Although we have made an arrest, we are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the pub at the time of the assault.

“It would have been very busy with people finishing work on a Friday and going to the pub to get ready for the weekend.

“If you think you saw the incident or were in the pub at the time, I would ask you to come forward and contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 9057 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
