Do you know a little and large? Police hunt ‘mop and bucket’ robbery duo who targeted Salford charity café

By Helen Le Caplain

A ‘little and large’ robbery duo – one tall and thin, the other short and stout – targeted a Salford charity café in broad daylight last week and fled with cash snatched from the till.

At around 2pm on July 16 an offender entered Ordsall Community Café on Tatton Street.

He walked up to the counter, made threats to staff and stole cash directly from the till while his accomplice waited outside, the pair then ran off towards Phoebe Street.

The first offender is described as white, 20-24 years old, of slim build, approximately 6ft 2in tall, and was wearing a grey tracksuit top with the hood up and grey tracksuit bottoms.

The second offender is described as white, 18-24 years old, of chubby build and about 5ft 3in tall, he was also wearing a grey tracksuit.

Detective Constable Susan West from Swinton police station, said: “Thankfully the witnesses were not seriously injured, but were left understandably shaken by the incident.

“These two men have not only targeted a charitable organisation that relies on volunteers from the local community to work there, they have committed the robbery in broad daylight regardless of the impact that this type of incident will have on innocent members of the public.

“I want to appeal to anyone who either witnessed the incident itself, or perhaps has information about what happened or even suspects who may be involved, to come forward immediately.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 5360 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
