Moston stabbings: Schoolgirl, 13, left fighting for life after Manchester knife attack – which killed father

A 13-year-old schoolgirl is fighting for her life following a Moston attack in which her father was murdered.

Ayeshea Collins was staying overnight with her father Robert Jackson, 41, who was stabbed to death following an altercation at his home.

The girl suffered serious injuries, believed to be stab wounds, and remains in a critical condition.

In Harpurhey a 34-year-old man, named locally as Darren Gasper, threatened a car owner with a knife, stole their vehicle and drove into the side of the Alliance Pub.

He was taken to hospital suffering from a stab wound and injuries consistent with a collision but died a short while later.

Superintendent Vanessa Jardine said: “We are continuing our inquiries and as you would imagine, there are lots of threads to unravel and multiple scenes we are currently examining.

“Our thoughts remain first and foremost with the family of the young girl and her father and we hope she makes a full recovery.

“A large police presence will remain in the area to offer reassurance and answer any concerns residents may have.” 

At 10.20pm police were called to a house on Delta Walk, Moston following reports of a concern for welfare. 

Officers attended and discovered the body of a 41-year-old man, it is believed he had been stabbed. 

A 13-year-old girl had suffered serious injuries, believed to be stab wounds, and was taken to hospital – she is currently in a critical condition. 

Just before 1am on Monday 29 July 2013, police were called to Watfield Walk, Harpurhey following a man had threatened a car owner with a knife and stolen their vehicle. 

A short time later, the vehicle was seen near Rochdale Road by police and when officers approached, a 34-year-old man drove the vehicle into the side of the Alliance pub. 

He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.
