Manchester United fans finally have something to smile about despite getting knocked-out of the Champions League last night, after side-splitting pictures have emerged on Twitter of Phil Jones.
The image is the latest in a long running line of hilarious photos showing the defender displaying his repertoire of animated facial expression.
While the 22-year-old is out of the running for European football’s top prize, he is at least in the running to crowned the European gurning champion.
The moment came as Jones battled Bayern Munich’s Frank Ribery during the intense second-leg tie, which finished 3-1 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.

Jones wasn’t alone in pulling the odd silly face in the game, as the competitive streak in Ribery forced him to take on Jones at his own game.

The former Blackburn Rovers player has become something of an internet sensation with his gurning abilities, and the photo from the Aliianz Arena is up there with Jones’ finest performances.
