City handed the edge as Liverpool slip again

The last few years of the Premier League have been dominated by the fierce rivalry between Manchester City and Liverpool.

However, with Arsenal’s rise last season continuing into this year, for a hot minute this season, it seemed as if we had a bona fide three-horse race on our hands for the first time in a generation.

For a while, there was barely anything to separate the three teams, with all of them given great odds to win the title. However, that swiftly changed as April proved to be a disastrous month for the Reds, effectively ruling them out of the title race.

As a result, the latest odds at the most secure and trusted UK betting sites are now in Man City’s favour (-300), with Arsenal (+225) still in with a shout for sure. However, Liverpool are virtually out of the running now, with their odds dropping to +15000.

For those looking for a safe bet, even according to Ian Bruce’s guide, it’s still likely to go down to the wire. Recent history is certainly on Man City’s side, although Arsenal are certainly pushing them all the way this season.

As for Liverpool, in Jurgen Klopp’s last season as manager of the club, the German’s men seemed to be on track for a historic quadruple of trophies.

However, the dream of sending the boss off with a coveted 20th league title has quickly disintegrated along with the Merseyside team’s chances of further silverware this season.

Having already clinched the EFL Cup earlier, Liverpool were riding high atop the league, while enjoying their status as the favourites to lift the Europa League too.

With an FA Cup quarter-final clash against Man Utd to get through, it seemed a mere formality at the time.

However, the Red Devils pulled off an immense performance to win the game 4 – 3 in extra time. Despite the setback, Liverpool still seemed to be in the driver’s seat in the league.

However, on 7 April, they met Utd again, this time in the league. Initially dominant this time, an error from young defender Jarell Quansah saw Utd fight back to earn a 2 – 2 draw.

From there, Liverpool were unceremoniously knocked out of the Europa League by Atalanta. Beaten over two legs, the first match saw the Italian team run riot at Anfield with a clinical 3 – 0 victory.

Liverpool would later lose at home to Crystal Palace in the league, then again away to derby rivals Everton, before effectively ending their slim title hopes after only managing a draw away to West Ham

During this time, Arsenal was mostly ruthless but suffered a massive setback after losing to Aston Villa. Despite that loss and a well-contested setback to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, the Gunners have managed to keep pace by overcoming North London rivals Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s season has unravelled, and Manchester City has simply done what they always do — peak at the perfect time. Despite suffering a Champions League defeat to Real Madrid through a second-leg penalty shootout, the Citizens have capitalised on their rivals’ slips to take the edge in the title race.

Given how brilliantly they have finished seasons in the past, no one is likely to bet against them clinching another league title. Even the official league predictors are betting on City, as are most bookmakers who have seen this story play out before and know what to expect when City are in ruthless form.

With sports betting at an all-time high, many teams and online sports betting platforms have been benefiting from partnerships with cryptocurrencies and their providers.

More accessible than ever, some gambling platforms even offer the opportunity to use cryptocurrency as the main payment method.

Whatever platform you choose, with Man City firmly in pole position now, it would take a very brave punter to bet against them winning the league again.
