‘It’s a dream’: Wilfried Zaha still on Cloud 9 playing beside Manchester United’s Giggs and Rooney

By John McDougall

Wilfried Zaha is living proof dreams can come true after admitting he cannot believe he now trains everyday with Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney.

The 20-year-old joined the Red Devils this January from Crystal Palace for a rumoured £15million, but was immediately loaned back to the Eagles.

And Sir Alex Ferguson’s final signing as United boss has been welcomed with open arms by his new team-mates, making his relocation to the Premier League champions easier.

“It’s just a dream really,” he told United’s official website. “I’m speechless.

“I just never thought I’d have the chance to play with the likes of Rooney and to actually be sitting next to Giggs in the changing room.

“It was a bit nerve-wracking at first, coming in and seeing all these players that I’ve watched over the years but everyone seems all right so I’m settling in okay.”

Zaha is part of a 19-strong party that has gone on United’s pre-season tour to the Far East– including Thailand, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Sweden.

New Old Trafford boss David Moyes hopes England under-21 international Zaha can be the next young star Manchester United excels in developing.

“This football club has a great record of producing young players and bringing young players into the team,” the Glaswegian told Talksport.

“Hopefully Wilfried can be one of those who we push forward.

“I’ll get a chance to have a look at him. He got a bit of extra time off after being away with England’s Under-21s, but I’ll take him away and have a look at him and see how he goes.”
