‘We will have players in’: David Moyes confident of bringing in reinforcements at Manchester United

By Marios Papaloizou

Manchester United will wake from their transfer slumber according David Moyes who is confident of new arrivals at Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window.

The Reds have been last out of the blocks in the market as rivals Manchester City and Chelsea have both made significant additions to their squads.

While United have been involved in several public player pursuits none have come to fruition and fans are beginning to worry that the champions will get left behind.

However, Moyes remains calm and believes that reinforcements will arrive shortly.

“I’m confident we will have players in,” the Scot told Sky Sports News.

“We are involved in several players we are looking at and that will continue. Will we get them before the deadline? I hope so, but we are working very hard to do so.”

While the top three clubs all have new managers Moyes is certainly the least experienced and he has admitted that his first summer has been a tough one.

“This was always going to be a difficult window for me personally because I joined Manchester United on July 1 so it is giving you a short period to get to know the players and to get to know the market,” said Moyes.

“I was working on it during the summer but it is never the same until you have actually worked with players and been around them.”

Despite the current lack of obvious transfer activity at Old Trafford, Moyes is comfortable starting the season with his current squad.

“What I do know is the group of players we have got are a great group of players – they won the Premier League last year.

“We have got lots of young exciting players – a lot of them played for England last night – so it is important that we focus on the players we have got at Manchester United and how well they have done last year.

“There is not much change so hopefully they will be able to continue the way they finished last season.”

While speculation suggested that Moyes would struggle to cope with the shadow left by Sir Alex Ferguson after his retirement the Scot has revealed that the presence of Sir Alex has been beneficial thus far.

“I went to see him at his house and I speak to him quite regularly on the phone,” he said.

“It’s good to have someone I can go to if I need any advice, especially at a club like Manchester United.

“He’s great and he’s someone I look forward to taking advice from in the future.”
