Manchester Marathon’s 2023 edition provided challenge and elation for its runners

A massive 28,000 people participated in this year’s Manchester Marathon yesterday.

The relatively flat terrain of the run makes it accessible to people of all skill levels, and provides a great preliminary event to the upcoming London Marathon.

Participators started mid morning, near Old Trafford and embarked on a 26.1 mile journey, taking them through the city centre, and down through Stretford and Sale.

Before heading back up through Altrincham, Sale and Chorlton, and finally crossing the finish line at the Old Trafford cricket ground.

Participants were showered in praise from local supporters, who didn’t miss a chance to empty their lungs.

Here’s Alfie Atkinson with the report.
