Spotland Secrets: MM get to know the Rochdale players…meet Graham Cummins

By Josh Nicholls

MM are getting to know the Rochdale players a little bit better every week and this time we caught up with Graham Cummins who is on loan at Dale from Preston North End until January.

MM: What is the best thing about being a footballer?

Cummins: Playing on a Saturday and winning.

MM: What is the worst thing about being a footballer?

Cummins: Not playing on a Saturday.

MM: Who is your footballing hero?

Cummins: When I was growing up I was a Blackburn fan so I always loved Alan Shearer because he obviously won them the Premier League but besides that I loved watching Zinedine Zindane.

MM: Who’s the toughest opponent you’ve ever faced?

Cummins: One person who sticks in my head is Efe Sodje (41-year old defender currently at Macclesfield Town) because he’s just horrible, he’s just kicks you. I know him quite well but I played against him last year and he stamped straight on my hand after a minute and you’re just thinking this guy is just going to be horrible.

MM:  Who is your best friend in football?

Probably David Buchanan of Preston North End, he’s from Rochdale as well so I get on really well with him although I like to think I get on well with everyone.

MM:  What do like to do away from football?

Cummins: Play FIFA or watch something like Home and Away or Coronation Street, something like that.

MM:  What we would be if you were not a footballer?

I’m doing a journalism course at Staffordshire University at the moment so probably that or something in business because I have a business degree as well.

MM: What is your favourite meal?

Cummins: I’ll just go with chicken and pasta, play it safe.

MM:  What is last song you bought or downloaded?

Cummins: The Arctic Monkeys album, they’re really good.

MM:  What is your favourite film?

Cummins: Anchorman one, hopefully two will be as good.

MM: Finally, if you could go out for a drink with five celebrities who would you pick?

Cummins: Zidane, David Beckham I suppose it would be nice to see what he’s like. Roy Keane we’ll throw him in there. Joe Rafferty (Rochdale right-back) will throw him in there and I don’t know who else.

MM: You’ve got Roy Keane you could add Mick McCarthy as well that would be interesting.

Cummins: Yeah we’ll stick him in there as well.
