The inaugural Manchester International Film Festival 2015 is fast approaching and its full line-up has just been released.

Taking place between Friday July 10 and Sunday July 12 the event will have something for every taste and aims ‘champion great story-telling that translates brilliantly onto the big screen’.

The two opening features are the UK premiere of Touch and the International premiere of Meet the Hitlers.

There are a variety of shorts from both home-grown and international talents.

ManIFF2015 will feature the world premiere of ‘One Word’, a short by Manchester-born filmmaker Caleb Shaffer’s, on the Saturday.

The short film is about a young African refugee who moves to Manchester to escape civil unrest in his homeland.

He struggles to escape the horrors of his past experiences and to integrate into British society and culture.

The protagonist, Sammy, uses performance art to find his voice.

There will be a chance for young talent to show off their credentials on the Saturday morning when there will be screenings from film students alongside experimental music videos.

Director of Operations, Neil Jeram-Croft said: “There was a vast range of excellent independent films to choose from but we had to shortlist this down to the crème de la crème.

“Manchester has always been a destination for culture for us in the UK, so it seemed like the perfect setting for the festival.

“There really is something for everyone in the programme and we’re looking forward to celebrating established and amateur filmmakers alike this July.”

The world premiere of the Kafkaesque Italian mystery The Imago closes the festival on Sunday June 12 along with the UK premiere of documentary Gazelle: The Love Issue, which follows one man’s struggle with HIV after he loses his partner.

ManIFF2015 is being held at AMC cinema, Great Northern Warehouse, 235 Deansgate, M3 4EN.
